I got up at 5.30 last Saturday morning to capture the sun rise from Skerries beach, conditions looked ideal as I unpacked the car. There were plenty of interesting clouds which I was hoping would the sun would light up. The sun began to rise over the horizon, a bright orange ball of light adding colour to the grey clouds and I started to shoot. Unfortunately the colours lasted all of 5 minutes before the sun disappeared behind thick clouds and the light was gone. Needless to say it was a disappointment so I took shots of the clouds instead which suited a monochrome conversion. On the way home I stopped off at Baldongan Castle where the clouds were also worth shooting. These weren’t the shots I set out to get when I left home that morning but I’m still pleased to have gotten something.
